Wickmeads recently signed up to take part in the Sunflowers of Southbourne and Lewis-Manning Hospice Grow Some Sunshine campaign and it’s fair to say residents in the gardening club have been extremely busy!
Residents were keen to get the right amount of soil in the pots, planting the sunflower seeds at a certain level and giving them the right amount of water. As the sunshine disappeared, the planting and potting was moved indoors so residents could still get their hands stuck in.
Once the sun finally reappeared, a sunny spot in the garden was chosen to place the sunflowers and watch them bloom. The competitive resident gardeners can’t wait to see which pot produces the biggest and brightest sunflower!
