Our care homes have been designed to encourage residents’ interaction with their environment and help them to feel comfortable and confident in their new home. We aim to promote fond memories for our residents through reminiscence or personalised social activities, for example, through the use of memory boxes, stimulating imagery or themed rooms. Our dedicated and skilled team ensures that dementia care is delivered using individual care plans, developed in consultation with the family and relevant health and social care professionals. Dementia can affect an individual’s sense of identity, therefore, we actively encourage residents to reminisce about positive memories through a range of person-centred activities. We work with specialist groups who support group activities and stimulate conversations. We are also partnered with The Daily Sparkle, a newspaper and app, which helps staff get to know and understand the people they care for.
