On Tuesday 7th October, residents at Marjorie House celebrated National Space Day with a fun and educational afternoon in the Seaview Lounge. The session was designed to spark curiosity and imagination, taking everyone on an inspiring journey beyond the clouds and into the stars.

The afternoon began with a fascinating look at the history of space travel, exploring how humans first ventured into orbit and how technology has continued to evolve over the decades. Residents were captivated by the stories of early astronauts and the incredible milestones that have shaped modern space exploration.

As part of the session, residents watched a live feed from the International Space Station, offering a real-time glimpse of life above Earth. Seeing our planet from space prompted wonderful conversations about science, discovery, and the beauty of our world from a whole new perspective.

Videos about life in space and the evolution of rockets added even more excitement, with residents commenting on how incredible it is that humans can now live and work among the stars. The experience sparked memories of past space events, such as the first moon landing, with many sharing where they were when those historic moments were broadcast.

To finish the afternoon, the group enjoyed refreshments and a chat about what they had learned. There was laughter and lively discussion, as everyone reflected on the wonders of the universe and how much has been achieved since the first space missions.

Everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed the experience, describing it as both fascinating and uplifting. It was a truly out of this world afternoon that captured the spirit of curiosity, learning, and togetherness that we value at Marjorie House.

This special celebration was another reminder of how engaging activities can bring people together through shared interests and conversation, all while keeping minds active and inspired.
