Somerset care at home team ‘honoured’ to attend Buckingham Palace garden party
Two Somerset care at home team members attended a Buckingham Palace garden party to honour their contribution to social care.
Sarah Broom, Manager of Care South at Home for Somerset and West Dorset, and Alison Hunt, Specialist Home Care Assistant, recently attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace. They were nominated by Martin Ross, Director of Care South Care at Home, on behalf of the Homecare Association in recognition of their dedicated service to providing care at home to clients.
Sarah and Alison were both thrilled to see many dignitaries enjoying afternoon tea at the event, including King Charles and Queen Camilla, who mingled with guests, from a wide range of community organisations.
Sarah said: “I was very excited when the invitation came through. I felt very special and honoured. It was really lovely. The grounds and the gardens are beautiful. It was a once in a lifetime experience. I found it a bit overwhelming to be invited, as I just want to do a good job for everyone, but it feels nice to be recognised.”
Sarah has worked for Care South for over 30 years, and Alison has worked for Care South for over 25 years, with both being based out of the Somerset office in Crewkerne.
Alison said: “I felt highly honoured to be invited. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. I felt really lucky to be chosen to go to Buckingham Palace. In my job I just enjoy meeting our clients and learning about their life stories. It’s nice to know that we can make a difference to their lives.”
Martin said: “Sarah and Alison’s loyal, dedicated service to our care at home clients made it a privilege to nominate them for the Buckingham Palace garden party. Their compassion, professionalism, and commitment exemplify the very best of what care at home should be like. Attending the garden party is a well-deserved recognition of the difference they make to people’s lives every day.”
