🚤💙 More Than Care, It’s About Creating Moments That Matter

Care South’s Community Fund has donated £2,000 to The Friends of Dolphin, a Poole-based charity providing free, fully accessible boat trips around Poole Harbour for older people and disabled people of all ages.

It’s a partnership that has already brought some wonderful experiences to Care South residents, including residents from Castle Dene, who recently enjoyed a special trip out on the water.

💬 Tony said: “I enjoyed it very much. It was nice to be out on the water.”

And Lawrence is already looking forward to his next trip: “I enjoyed seeing the islands based around Poole Harbour. I’m already looking forward to going out on the boat again.”

💙 Moments like these are a big part of what makes care so rewarding. It’s about getting to know people, understanding what they enjoy and helping create opportunities that bring Food, Fun and Friendship into everyday life.

❤️ This is what a career in care can mean.

Earlier this year, Care South at Home Carer Stacey Burch was working in the community when she was flagged down by a shopkeeper in Bournemouth to help Carole Knight, who had gone into cardiac arrest.

Stacey immediately put her training into action, performing CPR for 25 minutes until paramedics arrived.

Her actions helped save Carole’s life, and Stacey was later recognised with a HEART Excellence Award at Care South’s 17th annual Stars Awards.

💬 “I was so grateful to have the right training through my work because I was able to put it into practice straight away... It made me realise why all the training we do is so important and why I do this job, as it enables me to make a difference to others when they need it most.”

In a particularly special moment at the Stars Awards, Stacey was reunited with Carole, who helped present her with the award.

💬 “Stacey saved my life and without her help, I wouldn’t be here today. What she did was remarkable.”

Stacey’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference the right skills, training and a caring attitude can make.

⛪💙 Community is at the HEART of life at Marjorie House

Care South’s Community Fund has donated £1,000 to The Church of the Transfiguration, recognising the wonderful relationship the church has built with residents and the team at Marjorie House over the years.

Based on Chaddesley Glen in the parish of Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks, the church has become a much-loved part of life at Marjorie House. Parishioners regularly visit to lead church services, join residents for activities such as weekly Knit and Natter sessions, and take part in community events throughout the year.

💬 Reverend Andrew O’Brien said: “Our links with Marjorie House have grown from strength to strength over the years, and we feel very fortunate to be able to spend time with the residents and be part of the community at the home.”

The donation was presented by Simon Bird, CEO of Care South, alongside Georgie Powell, Home Manager at Marjorie House, and Gill Bailey, Deputy Manager.

💙 It’s partnerships like this that help create a warm, connected community where residents can enjoy meaningful experiences, build relationships and continue to be part of the local community.

You’ll need a Level 2 Diploma/NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent, along with experience in a care setting, including care planning and medication administration. We’ll support you to work towards a fully funded Level 3 Diploma and provide training in safe handling of medicines where required.

With a career in care dating back to 2005, Kirstel Wareham has been part of Care South throughout her journey and is now Deputy Home Manager at Castle Dene.

Kirstel’s favourite part of her role is spending time with residents and getting to know them better, helping her understand their individual needs and provide truly person-centred support.

Kirstel is also continuing to develop her knowledge and skills, currently working towards her Level 5 Diploma.
