Sunshine, Laughter and Celebration at Elizabeth House
On Saturday 6 September, residents, staff, and relatives at Elizabeth House came together to make the most of the beautiful weather with a garden BBQ and plenty of fun.
Our talented Activity Lead, Mirela, kept everyone well fed with a delicious BBQ, while DJ Wendy filled the garden with music and laughter. Alongside the food and dancing, there were lots of games to enjoy, and the highlight was definitely “SAY WHAATT”.
This hilarious game involved one contestant wearing headphones playing loud music while trying to guess words read out by another. Dorothy, Cindy, and Margaret said they had “never laughed so much” watching their family members take part. Our Care Assistants – Destiny, Kazi, Veronika and Love – agreed that it should become a regular game, as it brought so much joy.

As the afternoon rolled on, the fun continued with games of Twister and a round of pretend Beer Pong (without the beer!). Resident Peter cheekily said, “Well, you should have put some beer in those cups and not water, but it was really fun.”
We were also delighted to welcome our guest of honour, the Mayor of Poole, who joined us to meet residents, including Kathleen, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Kathleen was thrilled to be congratulated by the Mayor and, after a second rendition of Happy Birthday, said with a smile:
“Well, I feel very lucky to be celebrated two Saturdays in a row for my 100th birthday.”
The celebrations were rounded off with a buffet prepared by our Head Chef, Andre, which was enjoyed by all. Residents Bob, Jean, and Yvonne summed up the day perfectly, saying it was such a fantastic afternoon that they wished we could have a garden party every weekend.
At Elizabeth House, we always strive to create joyful moments filled with Food, Fun and Friendship, and this event truly captured that spirit.
