Sunshine, Smiles and a Summer Picnic at Marjorie House
On 18 June 2025, we had double the reason to celebrate at Marjorie House – marking both International Picnic Day and National Care Home Open Week with a joyful garden event that brought together residents, staff, families, friends and members of the local community.
With the sun beaming down on what turned out to be the hottest day of the year, our garden was the perfect setting for an afternoon of connection, fun and fantastic food.
A Warm Welcome and a Wonderful Feast
The event was an opportunity to open our doors and show visitors the warmth, vibrancy and sense of belonging that defines life at Marjorie House. As one guest shared,
“Everybody loved the lovely welcoming atmosphere.”
Our talented Executive Chef, Patrick, outdid himself with a beautiful picnic spread — a feast that was as pleasing to look at as it was to eat. From fresh summer bites to classic picnic favourites, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Ice-Cold Drinks and Live Garden Entertainment
As temperatures soared, guests kept cool with ice-cold drinks and plenty of shade while enjoying live entertainment in the garden, adding a festive soundtrack to an already uplifting afternoon. Residents clapped along to the music, shared stories with guests, and relaxed among the flowers and bunting.
Celebrating Community and Connection
More than just an event, this was a day of community, friendship and celebration. It gave us the chance to showcase our beautiful home and, more importantly, to make new connections and lasting memories with those around us.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us — your presence helped make the day truly special.
