Surprise Visit from the Famous Weymouth Donkeys at Maiden Castle House
There were smiles, laughter and even a few happy tears at Maiden Castle House Care Home as residents were treated to a very special visit from West Hill Donkeys – the much-loved donkeys from Weymouth Beach!
The charming duo, Anne and Dainty, trotted in for a memorable visit, bringing joy to everyone they met. With their gentle nature and friendly eyes, they made themselves right at home – calmly walking through the corridors, posing for photos, and even visiting residents in their rooms for some one-to-one donkey cuddles.
A Knock at the Door with Four Legs
Residents were overjoyed when these unexpected four-legged visitors knocked on their doors – and the reactions were priceless. From gentle nose-nuzzles to cheerful greetings, Anne and Dainty were warmly welcomed by all and quickly became the stars of the day.
“I couldn’t believe it when I opened my door and saw a donkey standing there – what a lovely surprise!” one resident said, beaming.
The donkeys’ visit sparked beautiful conversations, with many residents reminiscing about seaside holidays, childhood donkey rides and family pets. Their calming presence and soft nature made a big impact on everyone, offering comfort, excitement and a wonderful sense of connection.
