On Saturday 14 May 2025, residents from Alexandra House set off on a memorable minibus trip to Swanage and Corfe, where sunshine, scenery, and special memories made for a truly unforgettable day.

This was not just any outing, it was an opportunity to help fulfil personal wishes held close by a few of our residents. Muriel had long hoped to return to Corfe, the village where she once lived and worked. As the minibus pulled into the familiar surroundings, emotions ran high. Muriel recognised her former home and shop near the castle and began sharing vivid stories of what Corfe was like during her time there. The team captured photos of the moment so she could treasure the visit for years to come. “It’s been wonderful seeing this again,” she said through tears. “It feels like I am home.”

From there, the group continued on to Swanage, where Ann’s wish to take a stroll along the promenade was brought to life. After enjoying refreshments by the sea, Ann, along with her friends Joan, Muriel, Rosemary and Barbara, set off on a relaxing walk, pausing to take in the breathtaking coastal views.

The afternoon ended perfectly with ice cream in the sun, bringing smiles all round. Reflecting on the day, Ann laughed and said, “My new wish is I’d like to take a trip in a glider. Thank you for today, it has been brilliant.”

At Alexandra House, making wishes come true is a joy shared by both residents and staff. This special outing was not only about visiting places, but about reconnecting with personal histories and creating magical new memories with friends.
