Tracey Walker
Home Manager
“I’ve worked in the care sector for 30 years in total and not a day goes by that I do not love my job and the people I look after. Seeing a smile and achieving the best outcome for them is what makes my job so rewarding. I’m also very proud of the staff at Wickmeads who are dedicated, caring, and always go the extra mile.
The views and opinions of residents are very important to me and I like to involve them in decisions governing what is essentially their home.”

Grace Trindade
Deputy Manager
Grace is Portuguese, born in Mozambique. She has been living in the UK since March 2006.
Grace worked for Care South at James Day Care Home in Swanage from December 2006 until it closed. Grace joined Care South again 6 months later, as she was unable to move to Bournemouth after James Day closed.
Grace has been a Deputy Manager since 2016 and has worked her way up to this position. Looking after older people and people who live with dementia, maintaining their dignity, ensuring they feel respected, has been a privilege for Grace.
As someone said, “ To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honours”

Hudson
Activities Lead
Wickmeads is dedicated to ensuring residents are able to get the most out of every day, whilst feeling safe and supported. For us, it’s all about delivering the three F’s – Food, Fun and Friendship – to help residents to live a happy and fulfilling lifestyle.
Recreational activities are organised by our activities coordinator(s) to ensure residents are having fun and making friends, and range from baking and arts and crafts to visits from entertainers and day trips out to local points of interest and attractions.
No two residents are the same, and we love to learn about their amazing life stories, hobbies and interests. This helps us to build strong relationships with residents and allows us to tailor our activities to suit their likes and favourite pastimes. Residents can be as involved as they wish and the activities team work hard to cater for residents’ recreational needs, enabling them to continue to do the things they love, even if that simply involves sitting down and enjoying a card game or a puzzle.

🎶 A very special musical morning at Wickmeads 🎶
Residents, relatives and friends recently gathered in the Stour Lounge for a wonderful surprise visit from members of the Salvation Army, arranged especially for resident Ron.
Ron was an important part of his local Salvation Army Band for many years, so seeing familiar faces and hearing some of his favourite hymns again made the morning incredibly meaningful.
Favourite songs were called out for the band to play, while friends who have known Ron and his brother since childhood shared stories and memories between the music. ❤️
It was lovely to see how much the familiar hymns resonated with Ron, while everyone else enjoyed the fantastic performance and warm atmosphere.
We’re delighted that the Salvation Army has agreed to come back and visit us again soon!

💙 Wickmeads steps out for Alzheimer’s Society
Residents, relatives, team members and people from the local community enjoyed a wonderful Memory Walk from Wickmeads along the river at Tuckton.
With the sun shining, there was plenty of conversation, reminiscence and laughter along the way. Resident Sylvia fondly remembered walking the same route with her own dog, while two of Wickmeads’ regular therapy dogs joined the group for the outing. 🐾
The walkers also stopped to feed the swans and mallard ducks, sparking lovely memories of family trips to feed the ducks with children and grandchildren. 🦆
Members of the public stopped to ask about the walk too, giving everyone the opportunity to share why they were supporting Alzheimer’s Society.
After reaching Tuckton Bridge, the group headed back to Wickmeads for a well-earned hearty lunch. ❤️
A lovely morning of Food, Fun and Friendship, while connecting with the local community and supporting an important cause.
