All homes rated Good by CQC
We are regulated by the independent Care Quality Commission (CQC) whose role as an independent regulator is to register health and adult social care service providers in England and to check, through inspection and ongoing monitoring, that standards are being met.
This essential national regulator offers a helpful, reassuring snapshot of each specific registered service. At Care South however, our commitment to providing the best possible care 24/7 365 days a year goes further.
Ongoing, accountable, internal audits
The Board and Executive team work closely together to create a safe and caring environment for staff, residents and Care at Home clients alike whilst adhering to the highest of standards.
To ensure these standards are not only met, but exceeded, Care South homes benefit from experienced regional operations teams who are supported by multiple central functions, such as property managers, catering managers, dementia and clinical specialists. There is also a dedicated a care quality team, completing full internal audits (similar to that of a CQC report) at every home on a quarterly basis.
The combination of these internal assessments alongside external assessments can provide reassurance to residents and families that they are receiving the most up to date and best possible care.

This accolade is important to us as it is based on reviews from residents in our care, their families and friends. It is testament to all our care home teams who go above and beyond to ensure our homes are welcoming places where residents feel cared for, respected and supported as individuals.
All reviews are independently verified by a third party so you can feel reassured that what you read is a true reflection of our care and support.

🫏💙 There were plenty of smiles at Kenwith Castle as we welcomed two very special visitors!
Residents were delighted to spend time with two friendly donkeys from Highford Donkeys in Clovelly, who visited both the communal areas and residents in their bedrooms for a wonderful afternoon of animal therapy.
The visit sparked happy memories and conversations, with many residents reminiscing about growing up on farms, caring for donkeys and horses, and life in the countryside.
It was an especially emotional moment for resident Sharon, who used to own donkeys herself. Seeing the gentle pair brought back many treasured memories, and she was overjoyed to welcome them into her room.
Home Manager Jo Passmore said:
"Our residents absolutely loved meeting the donkeys who were happy to stand for as long as the residents wanted while they gave them a fuss. It was so lovely to see the smiles on the residents' faces as they shared memories of animals they had cared for over the years and enjoyed the comfort of spending time with such gentle companions. Experiences like this are so valuable because they bring people together, reduce feelings of loneliness and create moments of genuine happiness."
A huge thank you to Bart and Sue from Highford Donkeys for bringing so much joy to everyone at Kenwith Castle. We can't wait to welcome you back! 💙

👑🎉 Happy 101st Birthday, Barbara! 🎂💙
There was a very special celebration at Beauchamp House as our wonderful Barbara, affectionately known as the 'Queen of Beauchamp House', celebrated her 101st birthday 👑
Barbara was treated to a birthday fit for royalty with presents, flowers, a beautiful homemade birthday cake, a sparkling tiara and, of course, lots of smiles as residents and colleagues gathered to sing Happy Birthday.
The celebrations were made even more special with visits from her daughter Gail, who travelled from Germany, and her son Guy, who flew all the way from Australia, alongside their partners, to celebrate this incredible milestone together. ❤️
When asked the secret to reaching 101, Barbara simply said:
"Just be happy." 💙
Home Manager Debbie Lane said:
"Barbara is an incredible lady who we call our 'Queen' as she loves to give everyone a wave and a smile. She loves to be the centre of attention and is a great friend to the other residents. She's always happy to see everyone. It was a pleasure to celebrate such an incredible milestone with Barbara, and to ensure she had a birthday fit for royalty."*
From everyone at Beauchamp House, we'd like to wish Barbara a very happy 101st birthday. Here's to many more smiles, waves, sherry, ice cream and happy memories! 🥂🍨🎈

⚽🎶 What a fantastic day at Dorset House! 🌭💙
Residents, families and guests enjoyed a wonderful summer celebration packed with fun, laughter and community spirit.
A huge thank you to AFC Bournemouth for hosting an exciting penalty shoot-out, where everyone had the chance to test their skills and every goal scored earned a well-deserved medal! The cheers and encouragement from the crowd made every kick even more special. 🥇⚽
The celebrations continued with a brilliant live performance from the talented Abbie Mae, who had everyone singing along, dancing on their feet and even dancing from their chairs! 💃🎤
To top it all off, we tucked into delicious burgers and hot dogs from Bert's Burger Bar, before trying our luck on the tombola, made possible thanks to the generosity of our residents' families, colleagues and local supermarkets.
Home Manager Tracy Jennings said:
"It was wonderful to see so many residents, families and members of our local community come together for such a fantastic afternoon. Events like these create special memories, bring people together and play such an important role in supporting wellbeing."
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. It was a perfect example of the Food, Fun and Friendship we love to share at Dorset House. 💙

🎾 Wimbledon fever arrived at Buxton House! 🎾
Our residents had a fantastic morning celebrating Wimbledon with a special visit from Clive Stow of Weymouth Lawn Tennis Club.
Clive led a fun, fully inclusive tennis session, with adapted activities that meant everyone could get involved, whether standing or playing from a seated position. There was plenty of laughter, gentle exercise, friendly competition and lots of encouragement as residents embraced the Wimbledon spirit.
After working up an appetite on the court, everyone enjoyed refreshments together, sharing memories of tennis, sport and past Wimbledons.
Lauren Taylor, Home Manager at Buxton House, said:
"It was wonderful to welcome Clive to Buxton House during Wimbledon. The session was thoughtfully adapted so everyone could join in, regardless of their mobility, and it was fantastic to see so many smiles throughout the morning. 🎨🖌️ Creativity was in full bloom at Talbot View! 🖌️🎨
Residents enjoyed a fun-filled summer afternoon inspired by the iconic artist Pablo Picasso, creating their very own unique portraits in a creative dice game.
Rolling the dice determined which facial feature to draw next, meaning every masterpiece was completely different. There was plenty of laughter, conversation and colourful creativity as everyone brought their Picasso-inspired portraits to life. 🎲✨
Jackie couldn't resist adding a head of curly hair to her artwork, while Joan loved seeing everyone's individual interpretations, saying how wonderful it was that no two pictures were the same.
The activity also sparked a lovely discussion about Picasso's belief that "imperfect is perfect", reminding us that creativity is all about expressing yourself and embracing what makes us unique. ❤️
It was a fantastic afternoon of art, friendship and fun, with everyone leaving proud of their colourful creations.
