Lana Wright
Home Manager
“Prior to joining Care South, I worked in a residential care home for 14 years where I started as a Care Assistant and progressed to Manager of the Dementia Community. I have a number of formal qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social care and in 2021, in my previous role, I won Manager of the Year at our annual awards.
My Mum was a Community Carer and gave me the push that I needed to go into the care industry, I have never looked back and love working in such a rewarding industry because every day is different. I get to meet people who all have different stories to tell, and I love making a difference to people’s lives and making sure that high-quality care is delivered daily.
I previously managed another Care South home, Castle Dene, and now am extremely excited for the future of Alexandra House and very proud to be the Registered Manager of such a wonderful home.”

Rebecca Jenner
Deputy Manager
“I am an experienced and dedicated Deputy Manager within the care sector, bringing 29 years of hands-on experience and commitment to supporting others. I began my career at the age of 16 as an apprentice and have since developed a deep understanding of high-quality care, leadership, and team support.
Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives. I am known for my approachable, positive nature and my willingness to help both residents and colleagues alike. My “happy-go-lucky” attitude allows me to create a warm, supportive environment while maintaining professionalism and high standards of care.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my children, as well as pursuing my interests in gardening and cooking—activities that reflect my nurturing and creative personality.
I take great pride in my long-standing career in care and remain committed to continuing to provide compassionate, person-centred support in my role.”

Nathan
Chef
“Given our mission to provide residents with the three F’s – Food, Fun and Friendship – mealtimes are very important to us and residents love coming together to enjoy delicious, nutritious and wholesome meals with their friends.
Our menu is expertly crafted by our talented Chefs, working closely with our Caterings Operations Manager, and is cooked and prepared onsite by our skilled kitchen staff. We are passionate about providing high-quality food for residents and we cater for all dietary requirements and meal preferences, always maintaining the same high standards when preparing alternative meals. Refreshments are available for residents throughout the day.
We currently hold a food hygiene rating of 5/5 stars (date of inspection: 21/02/2025) and strive to provide delicious and nutritious, high-quality meals for all residents.”

Nicola
Activities Lead
“My name is Niki Hook and I am the Activities Lead at Alexandra House.
I have had many previous jobs prior to coming here April 2020. I started in Life insurance and pensions in Croydon before I had my 2 sons and moved to Bournemouth.
When I returned to work I took a role in Ferndown Upper school as a Special Needs Teaching assistant and I absolutely loved working there for 10 years.
In lockdown I applied for the role here at Alexandra House and this has been the most wonderful job. It is such a pleasure to try to create interesting activities for our lovely residents to enjoy. There is a lot of responsibility to ensure every resident has some meaningful interaction. We try to vary the activities to engage both body and mind. That being said it is such a rewarding role, a simple smile can enrich someones day.”

🎳 Back on the bowling green after 10 years!
There were smiles all round as residents from St Ives House enjoyed a fantastic day at Bournemouth Bowling Club, with one very special moment making the day even more memorable.
Resident Ken returned to the bowling green for the first time in over 10 years, rekindling a hobby he loved during his time as a member of Braeside Bowling Club in Ringwood. 💙
Joined by fellow residents from St Ives House, Alexandra House and Wickmeads, everyone had the opportunity to have a go, with the wonderful team at Bournemouth Bowling Club offering encouragement, coaching and plenty of friendly support throughout the day. The club's adapted 'Bowls Royce' wheelchairs also ensured even more residents could take part.
As Ken said:
"It was marvellous. I haven't played in about 10 years, so it was very good. The weather and the people were also good."
A huge thank you to everyone at Bournemouth Bowling Club for such a warm welcome. Days like these are a wonderful reminder that it's never too late to revisit a favourite pastime, try something new and enjoy making memories together in the sunshine. ☀️🎳

🏆⚽ What a fantastic tournament! ⚽🏆
Over the past few weeks, residents from Care South homes have been taking part in our Residents' World Cup Competition, bringing together homes from across the organisation for some friendly sporting rivalry, teamwork and lots of laughter.
Hosted in partnership with AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust, the tournament saw residents competing in a series of fun matches, cheering on their teammates and making new friendships along the way.
From brilliant goals to plenty of hydration breaks (and even a few light-hearted VAR requests!), every match was full of smiles and great sporting spirit.
A huge congratulations to Alexandra House, who won the final fixture against Dorset House, and an even bigger congratulations to our overall champions...
🥇 1st Place: Fern Brook Lodge
🥈 2nd Place: Talbot View
🥉 3rd Place: Wickmeads
Well done to every resident and colleague who took part throughout the tournament. The competition has been a wonderful celebration of Food, Fun and Friendship, proving once again that bringing people together creates unforgettable memories.
A special thank you to AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust for helping make the tournament such a fantastic success. We can't wait for the next inter-home competition! 💙⚽
